Today, I went to the avian vet for Ozzie's check up, and brought a bag of Harrisons pellet
Some of you might know that I used to feed Ozzie vetafarm paradise pellet, he was very good on the it, I just thought I wanted to change to a better brand. The price difference was huge! A 2kg bag of vetafarm was about $28, and the Harrisons is $19 for 454 gram (1lb)! :11: I know vet sells stuff for a higher price than most pet store, but I couldn't find any Harrisons other than that vet. I think it's worth it, since its organic, human grade, and the ingredients is much better than vetafarm. And most of all, Ozzie LOVES it! I have heard lots of reviews that parrots doesn't like Harrisons, but it isn't true for Ozzie! And it also depends on the specie of parrot, most alexandrine is not picky.
I got the fine size since that was the only size the vet sells
I have a question though, it says on the Harrisons packet, that 'supplementation should be limited to no more than 10% of the overall diet. Offer vegetables and fruits in small quantities'. I have always been feeding Ozzie about 50% of fruit, 40% of pellet and the rest is grains, healthy table food and treats. Should I remain like that or should I feed 90% of Harrisons pellet?
Thanks
And here's some photos!
