Goofy (YNA), Oscar (Goffin 'too). Foster bird Betty (RLA). RIP Cookie, 1991-2016 ('tiel), Leo (Sengal), Charlotte (scarlet macaw). Grand-birds: Liam (budgie), Donovan (lovebird), RIP Angelo (budgie)
Y'all know I've been working on Goofy for a long time to get him on a healthier diet and get him more active. When I moved in with MrC four years ago, he was on an all seed diet (much to MrC's dismay) and was the most inactive slug of a bird ever, in spite of MrC's efforts. I got serious last October about getting him healthier. I updated an older thread a little bit ago with news on his diet, but I also wanted to share this video. It's been years since he's played like this; more years than I've been around. He's also lost some weight, and is getting close to where his vet wants him to be. He's such a different bird than the bird I met when MrC and I first started dating. It's been amazing to watch his progress!

Congratulations Goofy and Goofy's Humans! Working the tight wire (chain) like that! Keep it up folks, likely more activities coming.

Ceiling chain! Salty LOVES his, its his major hang out area, his super highway around the house. COnsider hanging a few more toys from it. One end should go to his cage so he can return if he wants to, the other end, , if you have the room, can lead to another part of the house. Seriously, Salty RUNS along that chain now, and we have his main feeding bowl on a circular boing hangng from the chain. Advantage - he gets all his wet foods there, so no cage cleaning ( or not much). If you put an office chair protector, like from Office Max, his poops and food will fall on that and are easy to wipe and clean up. Yeah Goofy!

There were more toys, but Oscar makes quick work of them and I haven't replaced them yet. Goofy seemed less scared of the chain without so many toys on it, so made sense just to leave the one toy while he learned that the chain wasn't a parrot eating monster.
