I am in France at the moment, but was told last night by my trusted bird-sitter that Obie had passed away unexpectedly a few days ago, and he suspects a stroke. He was fine earlier in the day but my friend left him for a few hours and came to find him on the bottom of his cage. Heā€™d been eating and drinking fine and was spending time out of his cage.

I am heartbroken, and I wish this hadnā€™t happened when Iā€™m halfway across the world from home. I loved him dearly and we had made so much progress, but I am happy to have given him a good home and to have spoiled him, and Iā€™m glad he was staying at a trusted house in my absence.

Rest In Peace, little friend.

I am so sorry for your loss of sweet Obie:( Fly free, Beautiful Boy, you will be missed.

Goodbye, Obie.

Uly, thank you for haring your angel with us. Now he'll live in our memories as well. What a beauty.

Thank you again.

My deepest sympathy for you. I know how it feels. I make donations in members parrots names when one passes over the bridge, and I have done so for Obie. I made a donation in Obie's name to Cornell University Vet School, to be used for Parrot related studies and programs.

Iā€™m so sorry to hear about Obie.

Thank you all, and thank you wrench13 for your donation. That is so lovely and I am so touched.

Itā€™s going to be difficult to enjoy the week I have left, but itā€™s also going to be difficult to go home.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Get a necropsy done if you can to ensure no other birds of yours are at risk of infection. Even if you have to arrange for your friend to bring his body in, knowing for sure the cause can help bring you some closure.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
