Today I took Dusty to the bird shop where I got him and they traded him on for a conure named Connor!

Nah, just kidding ;)

But the news is real! John at the Kookaburra Bird Shop (where I got Dusty) checked my birdy out and showed me where to feel and what to feel and look for, and he says Dusty seems just fine. Such a relief, I've been worried sick about my little guy losing weight. John also mentioned that the babies don't get any exercise in the baby cages where they're weaned and they tend to be a bit overweight when they go home. Since Dusty is pretty active in his cage, not to mention he flies around the apartment several times a day, he's bound to tone up and lose some baby fat.

I was so grateful for John taking the time to educate me that I went ahead and bought a couple bags of food even though I don't really need more yet. And when he rang it up he said my frequent buyer reward covered the whole purchase. Hah! Guess it was meant to be my day!

Well now looks like you had a good day and what a joke you started this thread with but wouldnt it be o so funny if one day in the not too far off future you went to the store and you came home with a pal for Dusty called Conor...now that would be funny...ha ha mocking is catching my friend and the joke could backfire hee hee :)
Glad to hear that Dusty is in good cheer and good health...hope he enjoys all the good food you got for him :)

Omg I screamed "whaaattt?!!" Lol, got me good, but only for a split second!

I know how much you love Dusty, that's why it did not make sense at all LOL. Great things are going well :).

Thank you so much =)

Dusty has always been in good cheer and as far as I can tell has been just the perfect little bird. The only thing that concerned me at all was his weight, which dropped all the way from 97 grams to 78. That's a lot! Now that I've had someone that knows birds check him out and say he looks good, I'll just consider him to be the perfect little bird regardless of what the scale says.

As for getting more birdy pals, slim to none on the chance of that happening. I'm pretty determined to keep him as the highly privileged only fid he is now :smile039:

Good one Wade. 'Member that girl on here that was trading birds like Pokémon cards? I was like 'Not Wade too?". Glad your mind is at ease now. Time to get Dusty back up to his fighting weight. Protein , like chicken, eggs and shell, pasta, bulk that boy up. Is he whistling yet?
Tiels are great at that.

No whistling yet! He's started making a few different noises every now and then so I'm guessing he's trying stuff out. From what I've read though it seems like it's a bit early for him to start whistling. Maybe a couple more months =)

We'll see how the weight goes... He's really not too into trying new foods but I usually present him with something new every day or two. So far the only new thing he's shown any interest in is the birdy bread which contains a lot of the stuff he had already been eating, lol...

Some of them talk, too. My wife's step dad had a tiel who would ask for cookies and say a few other things. That little bird gave that old man a lot of comfort. I knew him for 19 years and he had that till the whole time.

Clever joke, Wade! Sorry I failed to fall for it, I know you would never part with Dusty. A conure named Conner could be a great new addition though.

Glad to hear Dusty is doing so well.
