I just talked to a prior African Gray parront that lost their AG to Goo Gone. So they say. I tried to search for info on the forum but goo gone didn't appear anywhere? Anyway, the goo gone was used a couple of days prior to the passing of the AG. No direct contact, but they used the goo gone in the house the day prior to the AG exposure to the goo gone... Does anyone know if goo gone is toxic? Will secondary, non-direct exposure kill a bird? I know the bird was well cared for by the environment and equipment used. We purchased a playstand and perch from them. They are getting steam cleaned now....but I want to avoid goo gone if it's truly that toxic....

I've never had an issue with it and I've been using Goo Gone for almost as long as I've had birds.
I use it in the same room my birds are in quite often. I don't use it on anything they would come in contact with and I don't use a lot of it at a time. I usually just put some on a cotton ball for use. It would be rare for me to use more than two or three cotton balls with goo gone at any one time. I wash my hands real good after I'm done because it contains petroleum distillates so it is kind of oily and it stinks, so even w/o the birds, I wouldn't just leave it on my hands.

It's possible the Goo Gone is responsible for the bird's death, especially if they used a lot of it and did so in a poorly ventilated area.

I use nothing related to cleaning, paints, solvents, acids or even cooking oil at high temps unless the house is well ventilated and the bird(s) aren't in the same room. I believe in being overly cautious when it comes to my babies, just like I do with my grand baby.

As a general rule, and time you use household chemicals, keep the birds' cages outside and make sure the house is well-ventilated so it doesn't linger for very long. We've kept the birds' cages outside for a good part of the day, and we've never had any problems with any chemicals before.

I don't know about birds, but if GooGone and I are in the same room, asthma occurs. It takes about a minute of exposure. The really weird thing is, I have no sense of smell to speak of, so the only reason I know there is GooGone in the room is the asthma attack! I reckon it has to contain some really nasty stuff to be having that effect on me, so I prefer to use Elbow Grease for getting rid of stains.
