Wait,....you trained these animals for these commercials and the film "Black Sheep?" WOW! Some SCARY sheep in that movie, LOL.

What's it like to work with a herd of sheep???? Are they hard to train?

LOVE the Techno Chicken. :D

...and now I'm craving Milka chocolate. YUM!!!

Yup, sure did.. there is tonnes more but i forget alot or they aren't on youtube haha
I love training sheep!! Apart from the poos n wees, which is constant lol
Ohhh trust me Wendy, sheep are severely underestimated... they are incredibly easy to pattern, clicker train, teach recalls and even stay.. i prefer training sheep than dogs or cats lol

Incredible...and SO interesting!!! Sorry to hear you are leaving this kind of work. Sure looks like you were EXTREMELY good at this! :)

Now how did you get those cows keep their "attire" on? LOL.

WOW, that's just awesome. Loved watching them. What a fabulous career that must have been.

The Black Sheep trailer only reminded me of when I visited NZ two years ago and there were hills upon hills of white sheep! But oddly enough, several of the flocks of sheep had one black sheep.... just one. Never two or more.

Except for the tiny herd of black sheep.... it had a black cow! :D lol

I think I'd probably find that movie more amusing than anything! :)

Great work!

Wow what an interesting career you had, and a Master at it as well

Watch them all love the techno chicken

Thanks for sharing

Ps.... I should have got you to train my African Grey Mishka for an TV advert

@ Wendy, that job was a big challenge, the cattle weren't handraised or halter broken.. they were just run of the mill paddock cows.. we had to go in and out of 100 select 12 cattle that we thought were suitable.
We did a few tests and then had the agency come in and choose what ones they liked the lood off.. we then spent hours upon hours, just halter breaking, then saddle training and then we hard art dpt make the mock ups of each costume and we spent another 2 weeks just putting it on and taking it off , on and off, on and off... so tedious looking back on it, but we were always dodging kicks and the odd charge and horn lol from memory i think i ripped 5 pairs of jeans jumping the yards... just in the nick of time to!!
By the end of the training things were attatched with elastic and velcro :)

So in less than a monthe we went from cattle that only wanted to hurt you to this.. she is trained to walk out in saddles etc and then stop on a certain mark on the ground and stay there until released.

@MonicaMc yea most probably only had one black sheep.. the black wool is worth next to nothing, so most people only keep the white.. but occasionally ya get a throw back and a blackie pops out.. or the kids handraise a black lamb for calf day and then the farmers lumped with it.. unless he sends it to the works :p

How did you find NZ? Did you make it to Kapiti Island by any chance??

Haha you must watch that movie if you think you would find it amusing..

My brother in law is from NZ. He's also a bird lover (granted, my sister is not, and does not like birds! LOL She's a cat person! ;) ) although doesn't currently own one.

In 2011, near the beginning of the year, I went to NZ to visit my nephew who was born in January (so he has dual citizenship - NZ and USA). Dunedin. The meat tastes funny (NZ doesn't age their meat, USA does, so that's what I'm used to), I don't like lamb, and it's extremely expensive there! At the time, NZ petrol was 4x more expensive than the gas in the USA! Granted, minimum wage in NZ is also higher than it is in the USA. All that aside, NZ is a drop dead gorgeous country! I wasn't able to visit any place other than the south island, but what I saw was gorgeous!

Actually, come to think of it, I left right before the earthquake in Christchurch that was quite devastating. I think I missed it by 2 days? And Christchurch was the city I had flown into from Australia and out of back to Australia... From Christchurch, I had to take another flight to Dunedin. Wasn't able to visit Australia itself, since my passport was only for NZ so couldn't leave the airport. I don't miss the flight between Australia and the USA, but I do miss the scenery of NZ!

Wasn't able to explore the north part of the south island as, at the time, my sister and her family were living in Dunedin, but we did travel up to Queenstown and even made it over to Milford Sound. The captain of the boat apologized for the rain that day, as we were not able to view the gorgeous clear water that Milford Sound is known for.... but on the other hand, the amount of waterfalls due to the rainfall was spectacular! The captain even took the boat underneath one of the falls and I got locked out of the cabin!!! LOL :D Well, me and a few other passengers! ;)

NZ is a little too cold for my liking, but I hear the north island is warmer! :) The only thing I *don't* like is that I can't get my pavlova to come out the same as one made in New Zealand.... it tends to be light and fluffy like, rather than the denser version in NZ... and I follow the recipe, and whip it until soft peaks form! It's probably an altitude thing.... but it's still a great dessert!!!! :D

I'll have to see if I can find a copy of the film!
