I was looking around on the internet and stuff, and I came across a type of bird called the Golden Conure. There isn't much about this bird, and when I saw a picture of one, I fell in love. I love the plummage of the conure. However, since I'm looking, there's nothing about this bird, such as breeders, care, wild, etc. Anybody got any info about them?

There is a section about them in my conure book.

I will have a look tomorrow and post for you Diego.

I saw some for sale while looking for Cal. Was sorely tempted but it was a sunny I really had my heart on so I resisted!

Apparently Megan Fox owns one (not that that helps you). :)

I have some friends on other forums who own some. Great birds! They are very endangered and in many states you must have a permit to own one.

They are extremely endangered. My local bird store has two and they are super expensive for the birds. Then you need permits just to own one. You also can't take them out of the state you purchased them in.

So beautiful! I wonder if iago wants a playmate :)

Oh yeah they are also known as the queen of bavaria conure. You will find a lot more information when searching for them that way.

My husband just asked if Megan Fox is a forum member.

Di, the minute I saw your post, I burst out into laughter and tears. lol, that's just too funny. I was laughing non-stop for a few minutes. Was he actually convinced that Megan Fox was a member? lol

LOL

Your husband isn't that lucky Di!

I read in my book about these conures and there's nothing I can really add! Being endangered, they are rare here also. I saw a breeding pair for sale like I say but obviously my previous comment was tounge in cheek as it was a LOT of money as you'd expect!

I did a quick UK search and none for sale just now, but someone offering £3000 per bird of a breeding pair. £6000 will roughly be about $3500 I think?? Wow!

yeah they are insanely expensive. I looked at getting the one from my bird store and she was $10,000. The scary thing is that is a usual price for one!!!

my family and i just purchased one they are loving birds but endangered and very expensive i bought mine for 3000 people say you have to have a permit but the store never asked us for one

HOPE THAT HELPS :)
