- R.I.P Kiwiberry, GCC.
Hello everyone!
------BACK STORY------- Scroll down for questions if you don't wanna read.
Four years ago I dropped out of school when studying to become an electrician, due to anxiety-related issues and minor bullying.
I've tried to get a job and what have you, but no luck. I've never had good experiences with school, so it's taken me a while to make my mind up, BUT, I am finally ready, I think and hope. Won't ever know unless I try, right?
Here's the deal, my GCC has had multiple homes before coming to me, she's around 8-9 months old from what I've figured.
First she was with the breeder of course, then from what I gathered, a guy bought her and then a few months later he was given away to his mother and she had her for approximately 2 weeks before putting up an ad or whatever online.
Wings were clipped at a very young age, and they were clipped very poorly too, granted I've never had a clipped parrot before, but some feathers looked torn.
Some feathers looked kinda torn and she didn't seem to be in great shape, feathers weren't that bright and vivid (could that have to do with age/before first molt, or could it be her general health?), she was quite shy for a couple months.
The owner I bought her from didn't handle Kiwiberry very well, she'd pick her up from above and keep her inside the hands and Kiwiberry clearly wanted out, I told her never to handle a bird like that.
So now, 3-4 months later, Kiwiberry is finally somewhat tame, she likes to follow me around the apartment, she's a bit reluctant to step up on my finger sometimes, but she steps up more and more often everyday, right now she's sleeping on my shoulder.
She's really playful and cuddly, she enjoys preening my face and hair as well, especially during the day, then at night time it's my turn to preen her.
She loves to bathe, especially when the sun is out and/or she's molting.
I've never had a GCC before, but I felt I had to give this one a better and a stable home where she can stay and be loved.

What do I do when I'm at school, I really don't want her to feel abandoned as I spend all my days with her, I don't know how long my days at school will be, but I'll start off with a 3 months of some motivational stuff to get me going before I can read up and make my grades better, and then finally an education.
When you do this motivational stuff, apparently they're more flexible in the sense of taking your problems into account and making the experience as comfortable as possible for you.
So if it's possible I'm gonna ask if i can start with a 4 hour day, then work my way up to a full day. How long is a full day in school, 7-8 hours?
I don't have a really big cage for her yet 'cause I've been kinda short on money, but I will buy a big one in January (I could buy one at the end of this month, but I'd like some food and stuff as well, so I'll put away some money this month and then some money from next month and buy a big cage).
The cage I have now is enough for her lifestyle though, she only goes in if she needs a drink or eat, unless i have food outside, sometimes she goes in for a nap, usually she naps on me though, and she's in the cage at night as well when we go to bed.
But I wouldn't feel too safe leaving her outside the cage unsupervised for hours, but I feel the cage is a bit too small for being stuck in it all day, it has perches, toys, food, water, so there's stuff to do, but still. Although I still feel a cage smaller than my room isn't big enough .

Next question, her beak has gotten a little sharper now 'cause she's pretty much started ignoring all her toys, but instead likes to nibble on my hand, i can hold a stick in front of her and she still wants my finger or other parts of my hand instead. How do I make her play with her toys again? There are certain toys she'll play with occasionally, but if i'm doing stuff on the computer she just loves to nibble on my fingers, I have a bunch of red spots on my hands because of it.
So how do I get her to play with her toys again, and especially biting the bark off of the sticks I've put out so she can make her beak a bit duller.

I had another question in mind, but I forgot it now, I'll edit this once i can remember it again.
