So I was trying to steer clear of 2's as the ones I've seen have always been the big guys and they loose there minds and scream the moment you stop focusing on them (the ones I've known)

My questions are....

How needy are goffins?
Are they normally screamers?
How bad is the dander?
What are there dietary requirements?(nuts,pellets,fruits,ect?)

A little backround on the 2. Its original owner was a old lady that had it up until under a year ago. The only reason she gave it up is her husband became ill and she had to devote the whole day to him. The guy that has her now, has her in a room with a sulfer 2. He says that they both go off when you leave the room, but do calm down after some time. He also says that she prefers women to men. The other good thing is its coming with it its original cage and toys.

I don't have a goffins, but a galah instead... Cockatoos are dusty birds, but TBH chili is not very dusty. Regular baths or misting will help.

Diet would consist of pellets, fresh fruits and veggies, etc.

I've heard that goffins are high-energy and noisier than galahs. Now that this little guy has learned to scream from the other 'too, it will be hard to undo...but you never known- once he's separated from the other 'too the screaming may subside.

How much one-on-one time would this lil guy get with you? Out-of-cage time?

Cockatoos are needy in the sense that they need a lot of mental stimulation, one-on-one time, and it's best if they have schedules...I know that might sound silly, but these guys do really well with structured and scheduled days- every day.

Goffins will be so much dustier than the galah.

all the white cockatoos are higher maintence when compared to the other cockatoos. Goffins can be highly emotional, are loud, and won't always be easy to deal with. I'm assuming this bird has already gone through puberty, so it won't be going through any major hormonal changes how a young bird would. I recommend meeting the bird, if you get along fantastic! If you feel it's a bit to much to handle you can pass it up.

All cockatoos have a double pointed lower mandible, this will make their bites more painful. Goffins are fully capable of biting you to the bone of your finger, but that doesn't mean they will. Galahs can also bite you badly, but I've never had a significant bite from Rosie.

Thanks Ashley for stepping in :) haha
Your welcome :) lol I haven't interacted with too many white cockatoos, but whenever I do I leave with white fingers XD Crazy how dusty they are! Kenji's also very dusty, I've read that African greys are right up there with the white cockatoos in terms of dust.Misting daily really helps to keep the dust down, even misting several times daily. My vet told me that birds who scream often help to clear their airways of dust, while in quieter birds it builds up more and that's were upper respiratory infections may begin.

, if you end up adopting this goffins you'll definitely want to look into air filters. Your green cheek conure is a oil gland parrot who doesn't create dust. They can be affected negatively by the dust of a powder down parrot. Don't let that scare you though, as long as you maintain a clean enviroment, have a air filter, keep windows open when possible, and mist the G2 often your GCC shouldn't have any problems.

This is why I asked before going and just getting the bird. I think I'm going to pass on it as it's fine right where it is and wait for the type of bird I feel is more suited for my family. I'd hate to take it and it not work out. It would only cause more stress on the bird and I'd really hate to be the cause of that.

my father in law has a Goffin, that you could call spoiled. He is a cute little bird not as intimidating as the larger toos. For a little guy with a pip squeak voice, he can rupture ear drums with the best of them. I don't want to generalize and say all goffins are needy, but my father in laws' sure is.

The needy ones were trained to be that way by their owners! But yes Cockatoos are super dusty birds and filtration system will be needed. I've seem some super well behaved Goffins but they can be evil if they want to be like most cockatoos can be....but they're one of my favorite.....

I recently adopted a gofffin, dont find him excessively dusty. I also have gcc and other small pyhurra conures. I find my love birds 3x louder then the goffin. He does demand attantion though, I find it works best if you give him 15-20 mins then 40-45 min on my playgym or whatever you have time. He does like his showers and ive been told the humidity is good for them. Mine does scream for a good 20-30 mins after hes been put to bed as well. not sure if thats normal or not but he does. I love him to bits and peices. he asks what you doing all day and recently my younger sister taugh him to laugh, so any time anyone in the room or on tv laughs he does as well.

Wow I have found this thread very interesting - I had never heard of a 'dusty' bird before. I've only had lovebirds, finches, canaries and parrotlets and none of these have every been 'dusty' I didn't even know there was such a thing lol
