My Goffin Cockatoo has completely destroyed her wings. She never plucked until my wife and i went on a week long vacation in 2010. Since then she has plucked everything from her back, breast, and legs. We have tried everything. Changed diet, used pluck no more, more toys, more things to pluck, even sock buddy. The sock buddy has worked for the back and breast area. Feathers are regrowing. But since the sock buddy she has stripped her wings. It is such a horrible thing to see. She is still just happy go lucky but is frustrated that she cant fly. Anyway she is going to the vet today.I am just so worried I wanted to make some new friends on here to learn about other people and how they have coped with this situation. Will update later.

Well back from the vet.Got blood work done, but wont know anything until Wednesday. Now I am going to be really worried for 2 days.

Dont missunderstand me now but normaly you dont have to worried for your birds helth do to the plucking. Unfurtenaly it is quite commom that cockatoo is plucking and often the vet dont find a reason for it. But of cause it is a problem and sometime it can be really difficult to stop it. In this mater I hope that experiand Cockatoo ovners on this forum will advise what you can test to solve this problem.
