Gilbert Oliver, Blue Crown Conure; Georgie, Sun Conure (2/8/01-8/8/12) RIP little girl; Percy, budgie 1993-1999. RIP Pepito-spanish timbrado canary
He got a new aviator harness (because I accidentally cut one of them with pruning shears) and an extended lead and the bird sitter dvd. He watched the dvd a couple times and he enjoys it. He gets really excited seeing all those birds.

Today I hooked him up to the extended lead and we went just in my front yard. The lead is quite long and heavy for a little guy, so I wound it around my wrist a number of times to make it drag on the grass less. He was so funny when he first realized he could go so far. He flew way up and looked down at me and had this excited "look ma, i'm flying up here!" expression. He had a couple oops experiences too, mostly because I had too much lead available for my front yard and he got tangled around plants or fence posts. Anyhow I think overall he loved the experience. I think he is actually tired from so much flying, dragging that line around, but it's a good workout.

Anyone else have an extended lead and what did your bird think of it?

Charlie isn't very interested in flying away from me, so it doesn't seem to matter to him the length of the leash/lead!

At least Gilbert enjoys his! :)

That sounds awesome! I wish I could just get the harness on my Indy...she freaked out so now I'm working on trying the flight suit and haven't gotten her in that yet....I just love gilbert, he's beautiful!

That's awesome! I've always been tempted by the long flight line, then I remember I have all sorts of lines I made specifically for flying XD

I saw a good training video on parrotwizzard for the aviator harness. He introduced the harness by very small degrees and gave treats.
