We are falling more and more in love with our Military every day.....we spend a lot of time with her (we were told it was a she, but don't know for sure, since a test wasn't done) but with all of us being more comfortable....she is feeling us out for sure.....now, every afternoon about 2 o'clock, she talks....for a couple of hours, she rambles......now we just stand around inside the house and listen to her and laugh at all she has to say....she now laughs out loud, crows like a rooster and cackles like a hen.....(she is on our back patio under a shelter, but hears the roosters and hens that are behind our house.....being in Mexico) and she mumbles a lot, in a low tone....(Lenny said next she will be barking, for sure) She LOVES being out of the cage, and has become very well behaved out, only preening and playing with her toys.....I just cannot imagine what she did all day, when she didn't have toys......her newest thing is, she loves to eat from our fingers....and takes food very gently.....even the smallest morsel...but when she doesn't want it, she will just grab either of our fingers, VERY gently.....and just like holds it in her mouth, not biting hard at all.....should we allow this?...when we say no, she stops doing what ever she is doing....but we want her to trust us.....and she is getting so much better at it.....I really don't think she has had as much attention, as she is getting now.....and we can tell she is a "needy "bird....she like to be able to see us, when she can't, she screeches....needless to say, a lot of outside painting is getting done.....just to keep her company..... (and I have read 2 books) I told my husband I can tell she would be the kind of bird if we didn't have dogs, she would be all over the house, following and waddling around......I am so glad we were able to get Tokie, and hope that we have many years together.....my husband is just learning to adore her....he is going "north of the border " next week, and of course there is a shopping list, and kibbles for Tokie is on that list.....she LOVES that nutritional parrot kibble that is fruit flavored.....and cannot be found here!!!!! Oh, and she LOVES the doggie cookies that I make, that have oats, apple and carrot in them!!!!! We are happy parrot parents!!!!

That sounds so nice. I would just keep doing the things that you are doing. She does need to learn that she doesn't need to have you around her all of the time. As for holding your fingers in her mouth...all of my birds like to put their beaks on my fingers. Some of them though still bite too hard for me to totally trust them. As long as she isn't bite too hard I don't think it will hurt. You are learning trust with each other.
