Parrots
Kiwi : Indian Ringneck Parrot RIP, taken far too young, Mango : Lovebird, 5 years old 2014, Sprite : Pineapple green cheek, <1 2014
So I really have 2 main things here :
1) my parrot likes to share breakfast. Is oatmeal (brown sugar) OK for them, or Greek yoplait cereal ok for him? He loves the Greek yoplait cereal, and tends to grab the chunks of yogurt and chew on them. He eats a lot (well feels like a lot). Is that ok? He's an Indian ringneck
2) How do I get him to try new foods? I can be eating a banana, and being all 'mmmm yummy.... Yuuuummmmmy.... NOO... Mine... Mmmm....' And he'll just stare at me, yet I grab a piece of bread or my cereal and he could be on the curtain, he'll jump down and GET ALL IN MY FACE. He seems to know, whether or not I'm trying to get him to eat it, whether its junk food (which is yummy) or fruits/vegetables (which are poison and will kill him.)
Oh and I want him to atleast TRY some habanero peppers I got today (I was just grabbing peppers and saw them and thought they'd taste good... One tiny bite I spit out resulted in searing pain and a numb face) but I do NOT want to eat them... They're bright yellow, I'm thinking I should just chop it up and put it in his food and see if he likes it? Aside from maybe runs, eating a lot of peppers won't hurt (given he likes it)
Thanks :white1:

i dont have this problem with cooper very much, he usually at least tries new thing but liking them is a totally different thing :D haaha. try just offering whatever you want him to eat with his normal stuff he already eats. you could also try mixing it into some birdie bread. or if you take, say one of the peppers, and put a few seeds in it, maybe he will shred it to get the seeds and if he likes it he will eat the pepper.

He doesn't play with toys, either though...
He's a weird bird.....

Well today he ate! I started eating grapes and he cautiously came out and took a bite and couldn't stop! Just a waster though! If it had skin it did NOT taste good. Then I got him to eat an apple. Need to work on veggies, but at least he's getting a variety. Yay,

Rudy tries anything once, but then may or may not eat it. Sometimes he eats something for a week or so, then suddenly decides I'm trying to poison him and won't touch it again.

He has always hated:
carrots
brussel sprouts
celery
palm fruit
oregano

He used to eat, but now refuses:
broccoli
green beans
cauliflower
kale
limes
romaine
cranberries
okra
tomatoes
bell peppers
sweet potatoes
cheerios
walnuts
almonds
zucchini
sprouts

It's so aggravating. I've tried them in different shapes, cooked, raw, frozen, etc. I'm hoping he goes back to eating some of these.
