I have been out and about with my Scarlet; Clifford and B&G; Kayko enjoying a last really warm days to be outside. They have regularly been to Lowes, the bank, the Riverside Arts market and even tailgating at the Florida/Georgia football game. Gameday was warm and I had a drink cup on my belt to put their hydrating grapejuice mix in and people started putting MONEY in the cup to have their pictures taken with the birds. I hand out feathers to the children and show them that trick where the underside color goes to grey when you look against the sun as I give a little impromptu macaw education class Here are two pictures from the game and the market:red:

Fantastic that you can share your bird with others, taking them out on outings.
Your birds are beautiful, especially the macaw (I love them)
Had a good laugh when I read how they began to put money in the cup, for pictures to be taken.
Thanks for sharing I enjoyed it thoroughly

How cool is that. I would love to take our birds out and about with us, but that would require harness training that I'm not up to at the moment.

Beautiful Macaw... you are so lucky you can take out and share them with the general public... who know you might influence someone to be a great guardian.

Thank you for sharing

i would love to be able to do that some day! Your birds are beautiful!

I do that a bit too...though mine are a bit less eye catching! I was out last warm day with Sam, Gem and Merry and had the hysterical question from a seven year old. He asked his mom if the birds on my shouler were real. The mom said that she didn't know about the "little one" (Merry was sitting rock still on my right shoulder while the larger conures were preening each other on my left.) The boy thought about it a second then when Merry fluffed briefly, the child said, "Well is it computer graphics? "

Surprisingly, I get that a lot "Is that REAL" Maybe they just can't believe that a bird can be that colorful. I usually point out to people I meet that that is not feathers on the sides of their face, it is WHITE skin. We only think we have white skin, and those patches of skin on the sides of the face are what makes a macaw a macaw. Most people won't take their birds out for fear they will get away. Forget the harness. All my birds get a 10 feather trim on a six week basis. I will admit I stay far away from dogs and getting close to the water, but they have learned to not be afraid of motorcycles or big white trucks. They are still nervous about things flying higher than them, like pellicans and airship blimps. Today I stopped into Petsmart with them and a women remembered me she said "You're the guy with the T shirt that says 'Yes I know I have birdpoop on my shirt'.... that's me (I had the shirts made up at the flea market) One little kid said to me "his feet look like a dinosaur" Here are some more pics of outings at the beach, Panera Bread with other bird people and their birds, and the Riverside Arts Market. Click on the pictures to enlarge them.

That is so awesome! Clifford and Kayko are gorgeous and definitely the happiest birds alive. :D It is so wonderful when you teach the kids and adults about parrots - especially because the movies always have them in tiny cages.

I used to go everywhere with my iguana and he absolutely loved it. I dont do that anymore because our African people are different and are terrified of him - when they start screaming and running then Forest usually gets bewildered as well.:(

I love the idea about the t shirts
everyone here is like
o dear they pooped on you
I'm just like yeah I know it comes with the territory lol

Awesome pictures some very beautiful and well socialzed birds

People aren't exactly terrified of Clifford, Wildheart but most people realize they could be badly damaged by that beak and stay clear. I don't know how much USA television and movies you get in South Africa, but lately I have seen more macaws than I have for a long time. When Johnny Depp played in Pirates of the Carribean he had a nice B&G macaw on his shoulder. The TV program NCIS had a rather far out tale where the B&G called for help on 911 on the phone and yelled "Help" Those of us who own macaws know they are amazing, but not quite THAT amazing.... Al

Pheonix if you back up to the last picture I posted and click on it, I was wearing one of my "poop shirts" Clifford always wants to be on my shoulder, so I have an up facing arrow on one side that says "Clifford" and you can barely make out the "Yes I know I have birdpoop on my shirt" on the left side. I like your line "Being pooped on kinda comes with the territory" I'll try that one for the next batch of shirts. I also have one that says "Ears Pierced Free" and "I (love heart) my macaws" A lady in Wal-Mart asked me what a macaw was, wearing that shirt lol :red1::blue1::red:

Hahaha it's like your speaking jiberish to most people when you start talking about bird species lol
I recently gave a friend a scarlet macaw feather and she was like o I'll have to look that up I'm not sure what a macaw looks like. Lol

We get almost all your movies and tv shows. I love NCIS but we are years behind with the series. I'd love to the see the program you are referring to!:D I was thinking of parrots in general thou and not only macaws. A member posted an add that was running in the USA some time ago and there was a parrot in a small cage. I was thinking of that poor soul.;)
