will have a baby sun conure in a few weeks
I have had other birds when I was younger, cockatiels, parakeets, and finches. I have been wanting a sun conure since I saw my first one. It hatched a couple weeks ago and I am suppose to see them and pick one out then I can start feeding and handling it so it will bond with me from the start, I was excited to be able to do that, and when the time is right I will bring hopefully her, home. So I am looking for all the advice I can get right now before I bring baby home. :rainbow1:

There is the book, parrots for dummies, got it for my 15 year old daughter. She is getting a Hahns macaw for her16th bday. It has some great tips and info for someone that is relatively new to the world of parrots and parrotlets. There is a great deal of info on the web and old topics on this site are very helpful. This has been a great forum thus far, very friendly and very quick to respond to topics.
I too also had birds of the smaller variety years ago. The book had insightful info for birds that crave more interaction. I would think that if you have dealt with cockatiels you will do fine with a conure.

I have been spending time the last three days with lola :rainbow1: I want to bring her home so bad especially after todays visit. I held her up against my chest and she stepped off and started climbing up under my neck, then she would rub her head against me. It was the sweetest thing to have one so young to bond with from the start. I held her for about 20 minutes talking to her and holding her so she could see my face.

When I put her back down in the nesting box she started walking back toward me! I put my hand down in there and she climbed up into it, I cried a little I was to excited and happy. I had a hard time leaving her today, but shes only three weeks old and still a little while before she can come home with me. That was an amazing experience and I will never forget it :D

There is nothing like being an expectant parront:D

My son will get to see her for the first time later today, I can hardly wait to see her again. I bought a small cage for travel when she has to stay with my son when we go on vacations and just ordered a large cage from ebay, they had a great price on there and beat amazon which I usually order all my stuff from.

Expectant parront, I love that :)

Sounds like love at first sight!

I wish you the best in your new relationship with your baby parrot. If you have any questions, ask away. We have plenty of experienced and knowledgable members here. The stickies in this forum for essential Do's and Dont's were life savers for me and my sun conure, Boomer.
