Hi again :)

So when I adopted LuLu they gave me a full bag of the pellets that they were currently feeding her. Its the Avian Entrees pelleted diet and it has a few dried carrots and apples in it. I've noticed that she has become very fond of the apples that are in it. But I've tried cutting up fruits and veggies and giving them too her but its almost like she doesn't like the texture (kinda like its too wet). She shows considerable interest in the new food but she wont actually eat it. I let her sit on my shoulder and watch me cut it up and everything and I eat some first. She'll grab it and even take a bit and roll it around with her tongue but she wont eat it. How can I get her to eat fruits and veggies

Also... She always dips her food in her water or eats over her water bowl so i have to replace it like 2-3 times a day. Do all ekkies do this?

haha that's so cute because my ekkie started off like that, as a baby, then grew into -- OOH whatcha eatin, can i have some please!? And he's still a baby :p

The less wet things like carrots, zucchini, broccoli and cucumbers is what I started with. His favorites ended up being peas, butternut squash and yams, which are pretty dry things, yams mushy but not "wet". I say just buy a bunch of everything and let her experiment, but yea it always seems the things he want are what I am eating. When I do want him to eat it, I say YUM YUM and hes like ok ill try it :p

Also, not sure if you have a parrot store in your area, but there is one here that sells a great mix of dried, non-sulphered chopped up fruits and veggies. My Ekkie won't touch a fresh banana, but loves dried ones. Picky, picky creatures :)

The pellets they have her on isn't very good for her! Eclectus don't do well on most pellet diets. If you have a food processor, you can chop up fruits and veggies to give her. My friend's babies liked the chopped up stuff and they gobble them up like crazy.

And yes my ekkies like to dip their food and make their water dish disgusting....lol

My baby didn't eat many fruits or veggies when I got him....he wouldn't touch them. Now he eats a wide variety. At first I would put some fruit on a skewer and he seemed more interested and would eat some. I think by trying different foods they eventually try and like it! I've also added cinnamon to fruit and a little cayenne to veggies. I've made some chop that he loved as well. I think the key is perseverance:)
