Tomorrow I will be adopting a 1 yr old male Jenday conure named Buddy from a family that, due to some difficult circumstances, have had to make the decision to rehome him.
They bought him from a pet store that specializes in birds shortly after he was weaned and have obviously taken excellent care of him (he's currently eating TOPS pellets, same as my Nanday, has been to the vet for a full check-up within the past 6 months, and is very tame and affectionate). He'll be coming with his cage and it's a decent size--definitely smaller than Ezio's but not bad and he has a lot of nice toys and cage accessories as well as a very nice java tabletop stand which will be nice since his cage doesn't have a playtop like Ezio's.
They've actually waived the rehoming fee since all they really want is to make sure he's going to a really good home and not someone who's just going to resell him for a profit or get tired of him after a few months and get rid of him. We've texted quite a bit as well as having several phone conversations so I feel like I have a fairly accurate idea of Buddy's personality (both the good and bad qualities lol), and she's gotten to know me as well and really find out what type of care I'd be providing.
I'm obviously hoping that Ezio and Buddy will end up getting along--at least well enough to co-exist in the same household peacefully. While it would be great if they ended up becoming good buddies and really liking each other, I know that it's very possible that they won't and it's not something I'm just expecting to happen.
I plan on placing their cages near each other at first to observe how they both react and going from there--I've read up on the basic recommended intro procedures and feel pretty confident that I've familiarized myself with it well, although any tips would be greatly appreciated! I should also mention that Ezio is flighted but Buddies wings are currently clipped.
