GCC with an African Grey?

My wife and I have a GCC named Gus and have always wanted to get a Timneh African Grey. Is it a good idea to introduce a Grey to Gus or would it most likely end poorly? Thank you

I would try having their cages sides by side just so they can get used to each other. However, if I was in that situation I would NOT feel comfortable introducing them face to face at all being that the difference in size is quite big and could end in a horrible disaster. But that's just my opinion.

My dilemma is that we love Gus, such a fun little guy. My wife and I have always wanted an African Grey for obvious reasons but wanted to make sure that we would be doing right by our birds and not just being selfish.

I would expect your GCC to ignore the Timneh or to be somewhat aggressive toward it. I would still get the Timneh, but with the expectation that the two birds will probably be indifferent, at best, toward each other.

I don't think your being selfish at all. Please be sure to give them both equal bonding time. Just because they will never be the best of friends does not mean you have to sacrifice getting the AG you and your wife want to have. Just be sure to continue bonding and dedicating time for Gus.

I have GCCs and 1 CAG. They stay out of each others way. However, my Grey is somewhat timid so she flies away from the GCCs when they come near. If she stood her ground, i would be worried because the GCCs don't back down and they don't realise that their beak is much smaller than the Grey. Because of this, they have gotten hurt by my Caique which does not back down. So what I do is allow out of cage times just for the big guys, THEN it's the little guys turn. So you might need to alternate their out of cage time, depending on your bird's personality.

Everything everyone has said is correct. Also, the Grey will be coming into the GCC's territory, and they may be aggressive. But, also, realize that, in time, they may become friends. My Grey was friendly towards many different birds.

Green Cheeks really don't back down, do they? This made me lol because my Green Cheek is exactly the same way.
