So, Zazu talks quite a bit (he's just a year old). He says his name, baby, hi, stop, you be nice, you be good, kiss kiss, step up, come here, pretty bird, Teddy (yelling at the cat...) and multiple combinations of these - it's pretty funny when he's saying "Baby Zazu Baby" - the "baby" is a favourite of his! And I guess we've said "you be good" often enough that he's learned it, too! He tends to say most of these when he wants to be let out of his cage, although he mumbles some of them when exploring things. lol... Just thought I'd share. Anyone know how many words/phrases they're capable of learning?

(And I say "he", but we're really not sure).

A budgie in the UK was supposed to have a repertoire of some 2,000 words, but I don't think I would be inclined to sit around waiting for all those utterances.....

Congrats to Zazu.....

That's awesome!!! It would be fun if our gcc started talking but if he doesn't that is fine too, I just want him to be happy and healthy. I bet it is so fun listening to him talk!!!!

It is fun - sometimes quite hilarious. One of our cats (a Devon Rex) caterwauls all the time to which we usually respond by yelling his name at him (Teddy), so now we sometimes get a caterwaul followed by Zazu yelling "Teddy" (which sounds like "sunny") - and back and forth. Or, he'll say his name and my daughter will say "Teddy" back at him, or vise-versa, and back and forth they'll go.... :)

Zazu sounds awesome, love all the phrases !!!!
Please record him, and post it on the forum

They are capable of learning as much as what you are willing to teach ... keep talking and talking, they are always listening and learning.
