I'd like a bird that is cuddly, and relatively quiet. Meaning, not too screechy. Talking is optional. I kind of want a good buddy bird, the kind that's ok with riding around the house on your shoulder while you work. I'd like to teach it tricks. I don't want a boring couch potato bird, but at the same time, I don't want an overly hyper-active bird. A bird that is friendly to everyone would be good. And...that's all I can think of at the moment. I know, it's kind of idealistic. And I do realize that personality depends a lot on the individual bird. So, what do you think?
**I copied this from member Joy Bird b/c this is exactly what I'm looking for and I suck at rephrasing so I copied it.

lol that kinda bird take a little luck in selection but mostly time spent together, nut is perfect for me (other then when she is being subborn)

with lots of patience (nearly 1 yr) she sounds like the type of bird you are looking for, but i had to go through a lot of bloody fingers, attacks etc as she really was an angry bird!

she is currently having her morning parrot zooms (she is flighted) and chirping up a storm

good luck on finding your life companion, sorry to add the negative bits on nuts behaviour, but when they are angry, it can be very scary and it takes awhile for them to get over it, and for you to be able to trust them

I don't know if you can find a bird that will be friendly to everyone, but conures are friendly to most.

But, even GCCs can be quite vocal. They may not have the volume of a Sun or Nanday, but they do tend to contact call and alarm call over visitors. They also make noise just because they are happy.

They do like to be with their flock though and will happily ride around with you. I know GCCs are like half the size of Nandays but it seems their owners have reported bad bites here. It may not be the best shoulder bird. It may very well bite your ears or face, playing, to be a little booger or because someone else came in the room.

Have you considered a cockatiel? Usually easier going with a lot of different people and less likely to bite or to hurt you if it does.

I have a GCC and I love her. However, she isn't exactly a shoulder buddy. She is more a shoulder, chest, arm, hand buddy. She doesn't want to stand still! She still wants to be with me but it can be annoying when you are trying to make a salad or feed cats and there's a bird hanging from your cuff.

She is not bitey but she is mouthy. She is not loud unless she knows we're in another room but can't see us, then she will yell. But it's not that loud.

I also have a rose crown conure. He is more mellow than my GCC - great shoulder bird! A bit more stubborn, though.

Both are very affectionate and can learn tricks.

A lot of it does depend on the actual bird, though.
