Last night I smelled gasoline and very strong toxic fumes saturated the apartment. I ripped the cover off sleeping Ollie's cage and wheeled him to the bathroom where I blasted the poor half asleep birdie with freezing fresh air while I tried to assess the situation. Then I stuffed him rudely into his travel carrier and we went outside. He spent the night in his carrier and half of today before I was able to get his cage. Right now he's staying in a bathroom because it's the warmest safest place available. It turns out there was a spill right underneath the apartment, directly under his cage. I fumigated the apartment as well as I could and it has mostly dissipated. But birds can smell things we can't. I am wondering if I check tomorrow and can't smell it, is it safe to return?
