Hi, I am not a galah breeder but i have a pair of wild galahs nesting now in a box I put into tree couple of years ago. They have been there for a month, incubating their eggs. In the last 3 days I have found 2 broken eggs at the base of the tree. They were non-viable and yolky. I am wondering if their first clutch doesnt work out, do they lay more eggs ie. do they go again and incubate for another month? Or give up?

I can't get up the tree to look as it is too high and I dont want to scare them off so don't know if there are other eggs remaining. I feel they have been incubating more than a month now anyway.
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to Parrot Forums.

Based on your Thread, one can only guess that you are in an area that Galah's exist naturally. It is very possible that you may have a young couple. It is not unusual for them to not have viable eggs at first and yes they will likely try additional times. How often depends of the season in your area.

It is possible that one of the Galah Breeders can provide more information.

Welcome to the forums, thanks for joining! Interesting questions and observations, perhaps some members can provide answers.

Most of us who have bred birds in captivity wonder how their behaviors are altered. What you observe is raw nature and may be very different from our perspectives.

As an anecdote, my family purchased a wild pair of Goffins in 1987 and it took about 10 years until they produced their first of three chicks.
