90 percent or so of what I post on Facebook is bird pictures. This means that my friends with toddlers often have to stop scrolling because for whatever reason, toddlers get an enormous amount of joy seeing large parrots inside houses and on people's arms and stuff. So yesterday, one of my friends recounted this conversation with her 2 year old, Louise, as she saw a picture of Betty sitting on my knee (She calls herself "Wheeze, so the family has gotten into the habit of calling her that as well, to explain the nickname).
“Mama a bird”
“Yes wheeze it’s a bird”
“Bird want cheese”
“Don’t think so wheeze”
“Yes. Bird want cheese”
“Still don’t think a bird wants cheese. Hey wheeze! How does a bird get around?”
“Umm bird in car to go bye bye”
“Well, maybe but birds fly”
“No. Birds in car.”
“Mama”
“Yes wheeze?”
“A wheeze bird now?”
“We are not getting a bird wheeze”
“Mama.. peas?”
I kinda chuckled and told my friend, ummm, actually, the bird would very much like cheese, even if it's not very good for her. Amazons are pretty notorious for their love of cheese. Then posted another picture of the bird in a travel carrier seatbelted into my car, just to mess with her, because I'm that kind of friend.
