As some of you know I was planned to rescue a Rainbow Lorikeet Today... AND HES HERE!!! I LOVE him, he is very skittish as his previous owners were very rough with him so I'm letting him get adjusted to his new home before I hold him but he loves talking and makes the prettiest sounds! His previous owners weren't the worst but its good I got him because 1. they didn't give him water they thought he only needed the wet nectar solution and fresh fruits (he loves grapes) he now has a nice size water dish! 2. They left a plastic bag in his cage all the time!! Im very glad he didn't suffocate himself playing with it! anyway he's mine now and I will love him forever! He is 1 and 1/2 years young! I do have a question though any suggestions on a dry nectar brand? HE only has the one you wet now I want him to have both the dry and wet nectar. OR can I use the nectar I have for wet and just not wet it??

thanks! I thought it was a good name :D

Oh wow! He is a beautiful green-naped lorikeet :D (the nominate subspecies of the rainbow lorikeet and native to new guinea). I love how the colour differs so greatly around the world. Our native rainbow lorikeets, the swainson's lorikeet, have a brighter blue head, blended orange and yellow chest colours and blue below the red chest instead of the green and yellow. The striking markings on the chest of green-napes has always caught my eye! For ages I wished I could have a green-nape lol but eventually I came to appreciate our native version :D I guess when you see something all the time, its easy to take it for granted and wish for something more exotic. I am sure people in America wish for a swainson's as well LOL

And, I have to agree... fruit loops is the most perfect name for a rainbow :p
