I have a male cockatiel which I handraised three years ago. I would like to get him a buddy to entertain him while I am at work. I am wondering if a sun conure would be a suitable buddy. I am looking for something more than just a cockatiel... something more colorful, just for the fun of it. Is it not a good idea to buy a cockatiel a friend of a different species?
thanx in advance,

I've seen many different species of bird get along just fine. You would have to be careful introducing them and they may not get along - but this is no more true of different species than it would be of two birds of the same species.

Tiels and suns are of comparable size (suns usually a touch bigger). I think you would have the best luck with a very young sun that way they could work out their differences before the sun gets to tough.

Hey thanks alot. I'll probably hand raise the sun. Thats always alot of fun.

It is alot of hard work hand feeding I was told by my breeder that a green cheek and a sun contour do not work in one cage and I would need separate cages. Havent tried it yet so not sure but will let you know i will have both this week end.
