I'm so excited! I fiiinally got Icarus to start munching on fruits and veggies! He's been terribly stubborn about trying anything and gives me a look like I'm trying to poison him whenever I offer a piece. Especially if it's green.

But I learned the trick! If he watches me eat a few pieces he'll try it. Even GREEN things! In fact, snow peas are a new favorite.

I even tested it. I offered a slice of apple and he refused. Then I ate a couple apple slices in front of him. I offered the same slice of apple... and all of a sudden it's super yummy and he's asking for more. Silly birdy, getting me to snack healthy.

If Puck won't eat something, I do the same thing, and then it's the yummiest food in the world!

It gives me the warmfuzzies too, cause I figure it must mean he trusts me a lot.

That's great that he's eating new things!!!
My guys wait to see if the eclectus will try it first. I guess they figure if he lives, they'll try it.

That gave me a good laugh! They leave the poor eclectus to find out if it's poison or not! lol

They do that exactly. They will watch him, and then when he starts gulping it down, they dig in.
I guess they think I try to find ways to poison them.

Another way to get them to eat something good for them is to fool them into it. I do 2 things...1 is to bake it into birdy bread that they love. And 2 is to make believe that I'm taking it out of a container that they recognize as food they like. For example, my birds get a small piece of Cheez-it now and then. I have fooled them into eating veggies, by taking the veg out of a Cheez-it box, which they recognize. Whatever works! :32:

Apple does the exact same thing... I make myself a salad and as soon as he sees me eating ge jumps right into the plate and starts eating, lol! If I dint do that he'll ignore it.

I'm glad it's working glad you.

Puck jumps on my salad too, but he just licks the dressing off!! LOL
