African Grey
Our son moved across the country this summer and could not take his African Grey. She is currently staying with us however we are not home enough to spend enough time with her. She is about 16 years old, a big talker and a quick learner. We would rather give her to a good home than to sell her to someone that may just resell her. If anyone can recommend a rescue shelter for grays, we would consider that too.

Love greys... They're so much fun..

Wish I had the room, looks like a beautiful girl.

Even though it is sad she has to leave your family :( . I think that you guys have the right idea in giving her away to a good home rather than selling her to a possible bad home. She looks in beautiful condition. I hope you find the right person for her, good luck. :D

So I took the two hour ride to meet Flo and her wonderful family. I feel very blessed and excited! She is such a lovely girl. I did find out she is a DNA'd girl so in time (once quarantine and vet check is over) she will make a wonderful big sister to Willow with no worries of any male/female attraction going on.

She was very clear that she liked me right away, cocking her head and listening to my voice. She talked to me on the way home and since we have been home and I am getting her cage all set up for her she has been on a java stand talking away to me. She flat back and flutters when I speak to her or get near her. She steps up to me no problems. I was told she doesn't like men much, my poor hubby Willow doesn't care for him either. Although hopefully in time both gals will realize what a great guy he is!

Jim and his family were wonderful and I want them to know how lucky I feel that they trusted me to give their son's girl the best home with lots of pics and updates on her transition to my home and flock.

Since I don't want to put too much more on her tonight, two and a half hours in the car coming home was enough (traffic YUK!!!) I will take pics tomorrow and add them to her own introduction post. I know...I know you all will just have to put on your patience pants. :p I will tease you with the fact that she is absolutely beautiful and in perfect feather. ;)

Congrats on the new girl. Wow , the forum is on a roll finding good homes for some birdies in need.

Congratulations Laura! And I admit, I completely agree with Wendy, you certainly are a tease.

So happy to hear another deserving bird found a wonderful home!

That is awesome! Brill! Congratulations :D

Oh that's awesome!! Congrats on the new addition...so glad she found a wonderful home!

She did give me a little scare tonight, I got up to the cage talking to her and singing to her and I could hear her wheezing when she breathed. I listened for quite a while and after a few seconds she stopped, started talking and whistling and even being silent I couldn't hear it anymore. Then she did it again, coughed and then stopped again. I had heard the cough earlier and could tell it was a mimic and not her coughing. Her poop looks great so does her vent and nares.

I knew I would be calling the vet in the morning but my favorite AV vet is typically booked a few days and up to a week in advance unless it is a clear emergency, so I was thinking if she might have a respiratory issue I would want to get her in asap.

When she stopped for quite some time I started wondering if maybe it was a sound she picked up over the years. She has lots of household noises and outside bird song as well.

So I called her former family and sure enough they have an older dog named Bella that used to also be their son's so Flo has been around her for many years, she is a boxer type dog (I think) I saw her there today and she looked older. Apparently she is the one who taught Flo to cough, wheeze and fart since Bella often slept next to Flo's cage.:D She also does a more human sounding cough, sneezes and says bless you.
