A flock of fluffy chickens & one sweet little ringneck named Apollo.
I started looking for a breeder who was closer to me [the lady I found is a 10 hour round trip, and I don't want to ship a baby if I don't have to]

Well, I found a guy who's about 30 minutes from me, and he has 4 week old IRN babies right now [he said he had a blue with a grey IRN, but he's got no idea what color they're going to be....any ideas?]

Anyway, they're 4-5 weeks old now, and he said that if I want to handfeed them, I need to get him within the next 2-3 weeks, though he'd prefer me to take the baby home even earlier than that]

Before, I was feeling all macho about this...heck, I grew up with big birds, my dad bred exotics and we were raised handfeeding them etc etc] but that was 20 years ago and now I'm feeling pretty anxious about this.

Is that normal? We've done all of the research and stuff, but I'm still scared.

Can anyone share stories, or words of encouragement about bringing home a baby at this age?

We also had our hearts set on a male IRN, but this man doesn't have his birds sexed....is there any thing that could help me chose a potential male bird? [probably not, I know the answer to that one already lol]

Anyway....I'm not feeling anywhere as calm about this as I was this afternoon.

Any food suggestions? What's the best formula out there?

Thanks everyone.
