My green cheeks tail feathers are always frayed on the tip of his tail.
Is this caused by his long tail constantly rubbing on the cage wire? He has his mansion (powder-coated baked wrought iron) and also his daytime play cage (smaller, average thinner gauge black wire). He is constantly climbing around so much and his tail feathers are always poking through and rubbing the cage sides and bottom. I am beginning to think they will always be this way. ???
Anyone else with green cheeks with this problem?

Most likely. My GCC is mostly only in her cage at night but even that is long enough for her tail tip to get ragged looking. She can preen it nice again, but sometimes she just doesn't.

Yep.

Just like young macaws, young conures play hard and don't mind their tail feathers getting in the way. It's a universal truth for most...

My conure's tail feathers aren't frayed...but my Amazon's are. I think it is from playing because I notice it most after she's out "cabinet climbing".

I've watched my conure take his tail feather and fun it through the feathers on his head. He has the few that are frayed looking. He doesnt pull them out just combs his head feathers. doesnt look too good.

Completely Normal. Dont worry at all. As he gets older and Molts more he will take better care of himself :)

OHR, how is Sheldon doing? Haven't seen an update from him in a while! I remember the video you posted of him combing himself. It sure is cute!
