This scared me, I laughed at first, but then I realised what could have happened if I wasn't there to help.
You know those munch balls? The foot toys?
Scarlet has had one for weeks, she loves it, but today I had to throw it away. She made a hole in it big enough to fit her head, then walked around with it as a helmet. Like she thought she was an astronaut or something lol. But then I thought what if I wasn't home, and it got caught on something while it was around her neck, or if she got tangled ect.
This is how I found her

I can't see the photo!
Its a really good point though, Mana loves sticking her head in things... I bought her one of those half circle toys with the shape holes and little block shapes that go in it (for toddlers). She loves putting it over her and scooting around with it. Its large enough that she almost fits entirely in it though, its one of her toy mat toys (so she only has it supervised). We call her turtle bird when she does it. You've just made me realise the implications of her love for putting things on herself however! I will have to keep it in mind.

Brodie, I hope you don't mind that I'm posting your picture. Not everybody has FB access, but this is VERY important, IMHO.

DEFINITELY a HUGE hazard!!!! Don't even want to think about what could happen.

Thanks for sharing this!! :)

It was one of these that i had the same scare with Codie!!

He managed to unravel it and it got wrapped around his neck !! The more he tried to get it off the tighter it got!! I had to cut it off!! If I had not have been here at the time then the consequences would most defiantely have been tragic!!

Here is the link to the thread..

Ow man that could have been really bad Kiwi has a bunch of those even hanging ones. Out they come!

Thannks for sharing!

Thank you for posting that and also for reposting the pic which I couldn't see. That is scary and definetly a recipie for disaster. Thanks for the waring:)

Thanks for warning others about this hazard ! Ruby LOVES these balls, but she is only allowed to play with them under supervision. ( Due to what happened to Codie ) Ruby chews them to shreds quite quickly, so they only last about an hour or two with her. I am always careful to remove the shreds before I leave her unsupervised though.

Thanks for reporting that Wendy! I was using the tapatalk app and it doesn't let me post pics anymore :(

Im so glad you posted this! Mango have loads of these and he loves to stick his head/feet/wings in all kinds of places.

What about all these super moderators I see around.....why not start a section/folder/whatever for dangerous toys, but I think there should probably be some posting guidelines/restrictions as I can envision a can of worms there, with postings that just need a place to vent.....maybe the posts would need to be moderated.....

I've got several pics of dangerous toys & at least one shows the residue of a 'zon or grey getting its tongue pinched.....

Thoughts ? ? ?

That is a cute picture of her with her head inside that toy! But I can see how it could be a Huge hazard for sure! I have certain toys for my Chattering Lory that I only let her play with when she's out of her cage under my supervision. Such as hacky sacks - which she loves! But I figure if I left one inside her cage, besides getting pooped on, she could also get a toe nail caught in it.
