Hi, this is a normal green Quaker parrot. I would check on Craigslist in your area for missing parrots and call the humane society to report that you’ve found this bird. You could also check with local vets and local pet stores to find out if anyone has lost their Quaker parakeet. You might note down his band information as often an owner will have that in their records.

The Quaker parakeet society has a rescue and placement program and might know if someone has reported this bird missing.
Quaker parakeet society has lots of info about these birds online.

He will eat budgie or cockatiel seed mix as a base diet and you can find that at many grocery stores and pet stores. Wild bird seed works aim a pinch but he actually can’t eat many of those seeds.

Quakers are friendly robust little birds that like to interact with their humans a lot and may talk very well or want to cuddle and be pet. They enjoy arranging sticks and small objects in their cage and some will build a nest.

Do you have any specific questions to ask about this type of bird? I’m a long-standing Quaker parakeet society member. I will message the QPS chatgroup and ask if anyone in your area has or knows of a missing bird.

You can also check with Vets in Peoria, often folks who lose their parrot will let local Vets know, in case it shows up at their office, or at least post a wanted ad there.

Reposted from QPS chatgroup:

The leg band should have identifying information on it. Some breeders get their bands from AFA and they keep a register of leg bands sold.
There are a couple of bird stores in AZ - the person can Google AZ bird stores and find 3 or 4 in the Phoenix area. I would start with them after checking for leg band information.”

You can check the website below for "Lost" parrots ...

... and also make a listing for the bird that you've found there as well. In the meantime, thank you for trying to locate this little one's family, they are sure to be missing him a lot!

A QPS member near Peoria AZ suggests checking with Dr. Stephanie Lamb in Phoenix to see if a lost Quaker has been reported. That’s AZ Exotics 623-243-5200, PHX location. Also check for lost bird reports at a store called “fallen feathers” in Peoria, or maybe Wildlife World Zoo.

As of 6 pm central us Wednesday, AZ exotic vets had no missing Quaker parakeet reports.

I emailed the Pawboost contact and told them to come to this forum. I hope this is the missing bird.

I really wish we could find out if this bird has found his home. Quaker parakeet society was very interested and willing to trace the band.
