Hi, everyone. I've been thinking of purchasing a shower perch or two so that Boomer can stay on it while I take my human shower. He gets his 5 minute bird shower which he loves but I always take him out of the bathroom when it's time for my shower.

My concern is the hot mist mixed in with the soap/shampoo and toothpaste scents. Is this safe for him to be exposed in close proximity to? I won't let the soap suds get to him but it will probably saturate the air. I know a lot of parrot owners do this. I just haven't read anything online about any dangers surrounding it.

I might be over-worrying like always but I would love your feedback. Safe or no?

Mine does it all the time with me. I tend to move him to the certain rod wile I do my hair and body... But she takes as soon as the soap is gone! I also take a thick rubber band and hook the wand under the perch and she stands on it. Water pressure way low of course.

My conure showered with me every day! I have a shower perch for her so she showers and then sits on the perch while I shower! No ill effects so far!!!

Nothing concrete to add but my birds are always in the shower with me and no issues at all =)

Since we purchased our gcc we switched to organic, all natural shampoos, soaps and toothpaste so that there's no harsh chemicals in the air :)

Thanks for the responses. Glad to know everyone has had no ill effects thus far. The worry wart in me is interested in the organic soap, shampoo and toothpaste.

Mind sharing the brand and where you can purchase them?

I no longer use shampoo or conditioner. I use baking soda to wash my hair and apple cider vinegar to condition it. I do this for myself, not for the birds, and my hair remains cleaner for longer - i.e. no grease build up! Been doing this since June, and each time I used actual shampoo and conditioner

That said, back when I did use hair products, Charlie wasn't on me... Of course, there were some incidents where he'd jump onto my head from above (he doesn't like it when I "play" in the water without him! One sure fire way to royally piss him off! :D), and I just rinsed him off and he was fine!

Gilly ADORES the shower!! I don't let him right in hot water, but put him either on his happy perch or just stand him on the shelf in the shower and he likes the steam. When i am done with rinsing myself, i invite him on my hand and then hold him near the spray of the shower. He LOVES it. this is his "shower head", LOL :

I get the all natural stuff at a local health store but they also sell it in the organic section at kroger. The body soap brand is "Jason", the toothpaste is "Kiss My Face", and the shampoo brand is "Mill Creek Botanicals". All of this is a little more expensive obviously but so much better for you and your bird.

Definitely THE cutest shower face I've ever seen. :D ADORABLE!!!!!

Even though I don't have any more conures, I do shower regularly (LOL...the sound of that) with my Amazons, and I don't use any special soaps, shampoos and/or toothpastes.

I place them either on the shower perch or on top of the door, where they don't get sprayed with soaps/shampoos.

Never had any ill effects whatsoever. :)
