Hi everybody
I'm bringing home a new baby alexandrian and i have some questions
1- for how long should i hand feed him ?
2- do you think i should get a baby parrot that doesn't need hand feeding?
3- how to tell the difference between a male baby indian ringneck and baby alexandrian?
Thanks

It depends on the parrot, I've never had an Alexandrine but I've raised Indian Ringnecks before, and they weaned at about 8-10 weeks old. A lot of my parrots began spitting up a bit of their food when they decided it was time to wean, but that was just my parrots. ^^

Yes, I do. I'm an experienced hand-raiser and there is just SO MUCH that can go wrong with hand-feeding. The bird can easily become sick and/or even die if the temperature of the formula isn't perfect, the water-formula consistency has to be perfect as that is their only source of food and water, ALL spoons/syringes/feeding tools must be sanitised after each feeding, you will have to get up in the middle of the night/early morning at times to feed the bird, you will have to be home pretty much all day every day until the bird is weaning/weaned. If you don't know exactly what you're doing the bird can suffocate or choke if the food goes down the wrong way, you have to have sure their not losing weight, but gaining it. And you have to make sure they have a nice warm but well ventilated box to sleep in.

A lot can go wrong, and in my eyes, it's just not worth it unless you know what you're doing.

I'm not sure actually. ^^ But I'm sure someone else does.
