I made this for all those beautiful cockatiels that get passed around constantly because people don't realize what they have when they have it... or simply just don't care. This is for you poor babies!

I loved my cockatiel so very much. When I bought my Amazon, I almost got another cockatiel instead. I just wanted the bigger bird. Cockatiels will always have a place in my heart and out of all the small parrots they are by far my favorite. Every time I see a picture of Tiki I get teary eyed. That was absolutely beautiful what you posted.

Awe!!!!! So sweet!

I've had tiels in my life for almost 12 years now and I can't imagine not having at least one!

They are really a type of cockatoo, they can cross breed with their larger cousins.

so is there any specific reason why the cockatiel shares a section with budgies/parakeets?

Any way we could push for the cockatiel to get its own section?

Thats is so true. Thank you for posting. You just can't imagine the number of re-home cockatiels we get. All of them are deep down just so lovely, I can't imagine why so many people just throw them away. Its the best feeling when your able to re-home these lovely birds with loving new families.

I just got a baby Amazon but if I thought he would get along with a cockatiel I would get one

I LOVE Cockatiels, even with all the big birds, it's strange without having a Cockatiel around. They were my first love, my first bird, my first babies I've raised, etc. They're very special to my heart and it does sadden me that some people don't take care of them properly. That's why I always pass around the word about proper keeping of Cockatiels with anyone that adopts a baby from me. And I'm always willing to take any of them back if they're unable to care for them.

The term "parakeet" means any small parrot with a long tapering tail. In that respect, although cockatiels are cockatoo's and not part of the "true parrot" family, they can still be considered a "parakeet".

ok well there are a lot of parrots with long tapered tails.....and they have their own sections.

Rosellas don't... Although I guess the grass parakeets could fit in this section... there isn't a section for Australian ringnecks.

Indian ringnecks and Alexandrines should be in one section called "Psittacula" (or Asian Ringnecks) to differentiate them from the Australian ringnecks.

beautiful post... i love my pikachu so much, i have no idea why people think of them as "disposable"...

Well.....This may come as a shock to a few but as to the last part of your above statement is the exact reason I care for birds more than most humans!!!
