Hello so Zazu and me have been doing great hes tamed and is used to my hands now,i still haven't gotten him to step up,but now worries there's progress he lets me touch the top of his head and belly and when i do it he closes his eyes like he is enjoying it, now i have questions about the food diet:
1.do i leave seeds to be all the time in the cage or do i need to make a schedule when to give him seeds or other food?
2. Ive tried putting fruit in his cage and he wont even go near it,or just gets close once and then no interest at all...how can i get him to eat fruit?
3.ive read they also eat vegetables,i haven't tried putting any in the cage...if you have recommendations what vegetables to give him tell me pls:)?
Also ive tried the step up directly with my hand,he avoids stepping up with all costs, should i try it to get him to do it on a stick first?or what do you recommend?
Thank you for your help!

I'll just comment on food, if I may...

That's critical for health. Too many are kept on seeds or other poor-nutrition things. They need veggies, legumes, grains... pellets are a good staple, supplemented b fresh stuff. Here's what I use.
I feed Harrison's, supplemented by fresh healthy treats. My first, and later, my current avian vet recommended it. My bird loves the pellets now, but to get him converted, my avian vet suggested putting pellets out all day, and putting seeds (his old diet) out for two 30-minute periods a day. That would sustain him but leave him hungry enough to try new stuff. I presume the same technique could be used to get him to eat other healthy stuff, like fruits and vegetables! My guy was eating pellets in a couple of days, and now I can feed a good variety of other stuff, knowing he has the pellets as a basic. Pellets are out all day... fresh treats a few times a day. I also like Harrison's via mail because I never have to worry about out-of-date products. Also, eating foods in front of the bird can sometimes encourage imitation. In fact, anything I eat in front of the Rb, he'll pretty much try.

Good luck. Good for you for wanting the best for your darling!
