Finally got all the pieces to Folgers new cage! We were supposed to have it last weekend but the one piece didn't fit in the car so had to get my Uncle to drive me up.

Such love He isn't flying attacking. He actually listens when I tell him no and put my hand between people. They will also carry a towel when they remember or my stepfather will carry the kitten as a shield if there isn't a towel... He has been big on mutilating recently. No plucking just some mutilation right under his wing and a little on the shoulder. I'm thinking of a vest/sock but I know that won't solve his issues and I'm pretty sure he will just rip it off then do a victory dance on the remains Picked up some salve at the shelter that she uses on her guys! Have given him a couple baths to help too but all I can do is see how it goes the next couple days. Going to get him a vet appointment to get him a full workup. I know she mentioned putting him on meds before but theres no way I would agree to some kind of med to chill him out. I'd prefer to try more natural ways! Like the red clover that I'm still waiting on...mail needs to be faster...

Victoria, really? Couldn't you find a bigger cage and my goodness, give the little guy something to play with. I like the way you tested the cage size by standing inside it. Lucky, lucky bird even if he doesn't realize it yet. I hope his feather mutilation stops when he's had a little more time to get accustomed to all his new things. Fantastic cage and setup. I'm so happy for him. Is Folger also nuts about your stepdad?

Folger is just nuts....

He hates everyone else. My brother was up this weekend and Folger would have tried to see if he tasted like chicken too !

I think he is very happy with Tor, still think that's half the problem, he is so insecure about her not being there or us taking her away from him...., hopefully with time he will become more secure, but think that's gonna be a long long time...,

I compare the mutilation to a kid who cuts, not sure he could stop even if he wants to, its a habit.... with time tho, hopefully he loses whatever need he has for that as well....

I've just watched a couple videos for the sock buddy and am debating trying one (my poor fingers). I think it might be worth the try even if he does rip it off instead of leaving it alone. He is letting feathers grow back but might need the buddy to break the habit of mutilation. Or my mother can stand by his cage all day He stays distracted by the urge to eat her alive instead of himself

I did want a bigger cage but apparently the others were too big:31: Poor Folger he can barely move in this cage. He barely has room in there for his toys:54:

He does seem happier lately He was instructing Ivory to 'Come Here' and 'Step Up' today. Yesterday, he was doing his wooooo with wings outstretched for my uncle. He's a funny guy for sure!
