Flight Feathers

well Popsicle made it to his first vet visit yesterday since I got him on July 10th. I am really proud of him he did really good. And he wasn't as mad as I thought he would be. He was mad at me all day yesterday but he did give me one kiss but he is good today.

I had his toenails cut and flight feathers cut. My question is how long will it be before he will be able to fly again. I've decided I don't like the clipped wings.

If I'm not mistaken, it shouldn't take too long; I believe it takes about a month or two for all the feathers to fall out and another month or all of them to grow back.

You'll have to wait until he molts, when this may happen will depend on your bird, when his last molt was, home envirnment etc. This article is pretty interesting

Cody took a year to grow his back, but he was also clipped when he was just a baby and all of his feathers were new, so it took a very long time for him to molt them all out. Your sun should only need a good 2-4 flight feathers to fly, so it shouldn't take too long.

The best answer I can give is, a birds flight feathers always grow back when you least expect it.......
