I made a post today about how to get rid of flies in my house. Looking at them closer, they aren't house flies, they are flesh flies. Flesh flies breed in wounds, on dead animals, or in dog feces. (probably the latter for us)

Are flesh flies dangerous for parrots? (or other animals?)

After lifting up Kirby's cage and finding a dead one under it (how'd one get under there??) I am sincerely creeped out. As someone that is terrified of the smallest houseflies, these guys are just awful!! Big, and very loud. I also, just a few minutes ago, noticed babies everywhere in Kirby's room! I'm literally tip toeing around in my shoes right now.
(warning; not as many as it sounds like, I'm just overreacting haha)

But I seriously hope they leave soon!!

I don't know if you have many mice or rats where you are, but perhaps there is a dead one floating around the house somewhere? Are there any abnormal smells?

Good luck getting rid of them, I'd freak out if I saw larvae wiggling around my house! Eugh!!

I think there may be less of them. I found out that about half of them are normal flies, other flesh flies. I figured out a good way to kill a few of them though! Step 1.) Open window when they are near. Step 2.) wait till they latch onto the screen and close window. Step 3.) Clean up fly corpses the next day! ;D

We live in an apartment though, I don't know how a mouse could get in. Maybe through the walls?

Aha! That's definitely one way to get 'em... I prefer to let my dogs handle them. They're great fly catchers.

... As for the mouse, they could most certainly get in through walls! I had someone tell me of a story of a cat getting stuck in her wall in an apartment. Unfortunately it ended in lots of maggots in her apartment. :(
Regardless, it seems you've found a way to get rid of them! ;)

So that's where my missing toe got to!

Ugh. I am sorry you are dealing with this! So frustrating to have a problem like this. I don't know anything about flesh flies, sorry.

Me neither but I'm having a problem with fruit flies and house flies. I bought a bug zapper out of frustration Sunday when I couldn't find an ordinary fly swatter. It looks like a tennis racket and zaps the flies when they touch the racket. Corny looking but Husband thinks it's awesome and he has taken point on fly duty.

I have apple cider vinegar in cups, plastic rap fastened over the top with tiny holes in the plastic. I did this with Buddy's left over plum too. They went to the plum more. They go in and can't figure out how to get out. I can take the cup full of flies and just throw it in the trash. Haven't decided what to do with the bowl. I'm thinking freezer so they die an icy death. This might help you but you would have to put something stinky in the cup. Good Luck. Flies are bad this year.

And MonicaMC gave me the cup idea. Thanks so much!
