Does anyone give there fid flavored water? While drinking grape juice my Sennie Indy practically took my fingers off to get some. So I put a little in the bottle top for her and she went bananas over it. Since then, about twice a week, I add about a cap full of juice, normally cranberry or grape juice to a separate water dish for her. I've started diluting the juice though, because of the sugar, ect, and she doesn't like that so much... So is the juice safe for her?

A little juice is OK. Natural juice is probably better, meaning not additionally sweetened by concentrated white grape juice, etc. Grape juice is often VERY sweet, so I'd keep it to a little as a treat. Cranberry needs to be sweetened a little to make it palatable.

Bogart love grape juice, apple juice and Oj and he will trample you for a sip of Pink Lemonade but he is Not! spoiled. well ..... maybe just a little.

It's all I can do to keep my birds out of my drinks. If I'm drinking water they want nothing to do with it. If I'm drinking juice they'll want a taste and be fine. If I'm drinking soda or iced tea they want to consume everything in the glass and I've got to practically beat them away from it. It's gotten to the point where I just won't drink it around them. It's probably better for my health too :p

I wanted to go back to this original question, which was never actually answered because it was diverted to another track...that of actual juice. Yes, my conures LOVE orange juice (I don't drink concentrate, but do drink Simply Orange, and they always want what's leftover in the bottom of the glass! I have pix of that.) But the original question was "Is flavored water safe for birds? (I drink Sparkling Ice, by Talking Rain.) When I have it, I water it down (as the flavor is a bit strong for me), and add a bit of OJ to it. My conures think this is theirs and sit on the glass, drinking it (and even took a bath in it once!). There is no sugar in it, and the flavors/colors come from fruits and veggies. I'm sure it's ok, but just wanted confirmation. BTW, I rarely drink soda, but do drink a lot of coffee (which I know is not good for them), so I use a closed cup and a straw. They do like to pull the straws out, but they stay out of my drinks that way! :D
Thanks!

1. Make sure it is free of artificial sugars. 2. Make sure it has no added vitamins (juices are often fortified at human vitamin levels for children). 3. Watch vitamin c levels and acidity-they can lead to disease in parrots. 4. Dilute always and give very infrequently...lemonades and citrus should be avoided for the most part.

Do not give straight juice.

NO. no "juice" is safe for birds. They want it because it is full of sugar and full of additives(flavour) please stop.

"Juice" isnt even healthy for humans.

Just like children, birds will always want the things that they should not have. Its our jobs not to cave in to their cuteness.
We are afterall their guardians and it is our responsibility to protect them.

Lets say you had a child that loved to eat chocolate bars for breakfast, he/she danced for joy and lavished attention on you everytime you served that child ice cream, or chocolate, or juice. Doesnt make it okay.

You already have the sense enough to know full juice is bad and have watered it down, which is HUGE.
The fact that you are asking if watered down sugary "juice" is acceptable means there is hope for you and for your baby.
Please use your best judgement and keep asking question.
Sometime it can be hard to remember what it was like when we were all first learning about how to take care of birds.
So, I apologize if I came across negatively.

I hope for the best of you and your baby

Very very cute!
I wouldn't share spit with them though- if you had your mouth on the straw or drank out of it, they shouldn't drink after you or put the straw in their mouthes.
