I have two smaller conures right now and have an empty cage, and have always wanted a slightly larger bird (although not one that would outlive me). I have located what appears to be a lovely female sun conure about an hour and a half from me and I was thinking of taking my birds up there to meet her (through the cage, of course).
Should I have any concerns about her being 5? I do not mind taking an older bird, as long as it has decent manners - in fact I prefer it (never have been one for babies). And are there any questions I should be asking, considering that I will only be able to meet her once before I decide? Her pricetag of $250 also makes me a bit suspicious (they start at $500 around these parts, but I guess she is older and not located in a big city). They have a baby and can no longer make time for her
The seller says she is very tame and affectionate with him and gets along pretty well with other people once she gets to know them. She has not been around other birds for a long while.
It makes me a bit nervous potentially buying her, only meeting her once, especially because I want all the birds to get along eventually (I am fine with some work-through time after quarantine of course, but I do not want them to not even be able to be in the same room). I knew with my current two right away that it would be fine.
Any advice?
Thanks!
