We got 2 pineapple green cheeks conure's a month ago, they are now 3 months old. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if they can eat things like dried chili peppers and almonds? I have a big bag of large parrot food I had gotten for a moluccan cockatoo, which I have left over from that bird. I didn't do my research when I got my cockatoo, he was already 5 years old. I have a Autistic husband and he was to loud for him and he would attack my husband, so after 2 weeks I donated him to parrot mountain in Tennessee, where he will stay for life and I can go visit. I did my research before purchasing our pineapple green cheeks conure's. We will be keeping them. Lesson learned research first. Can I give the parrot food to our conure's with dried chili peppers in it and nuts like almonds and uncooked pasta to them?

Hi! Welcome.
Your birds will do best on a mixed fruit/veggie diet. Go to the food section of the forum (sorry can't link on the phone) and browse the recipes and what's safe for birds.
I make a large batch of chop and freeze it. Each day they get a fresh bowl and some other stuff I may have.
Parrot "food" is just seeds usually and not truly healthy. My guys have a bowl of pellets 24/7 and their fresh chop 2 x a day.

I did look at foods to avoid, I just couldn't find the nuts and chili peppers. I didn't know about the food forums here. Thanks very much. I will check it out. I do also give them fresh fruits and vegetables everyday in addition to the conure seed pellet in a bag. Thank again.

capsicum (not spelled right, sorry), the chemical in chillis that make them taste hot, doesn't effect birds. Not on their radar, but they seem to like them, not that I've offered my green cheek any (yet). Almonds are safe and my green cheek loves them, I use them as a treat.
All seeds and nuts in moderation, have a read up on the food and diets forum. Consider maybe introducing pellets into the mix (nothing brightly coloured or not considered unfit for human consumption), or if you have the drive and confidence go 100% fresh diet; Or join some of us in the 50/50 diet (half fresh half pellet).

Goodluck!

I have a brown throated conure and almond are one of his favorite treats :)
