First time bird owner Lutino IRN

So I bought my husband an IRN for his birthday well our birthdays and I feel like we're doing everything wrong. The breeder let them fly everywhere and although her wings are clipped only leaving the outside 2 flight feathers she still gets quite the lift but she only seems to fly when spooked or done hanging out with us, and she heads straight back to her perch. We also did a small sink shower due to she seemed quite dirty. Then the rest of the day I felt as if I had traumatized her. The bluffing seems mild, she steps up when asked and will occasionally give cheek kisses if asked, but she doesn't not want to be petted. Is this normal IRN behavior, are we on the way to bonding with our new feathery friend? Any suggestions or tips?

I thought about a mist bath because I had done some reading but I think the initial fear was that she had never had a bath before. But her tail feathers were stuck together so I figured misting wasn't enough, after a few seconds she fanned them out for me, we believe she is 7mos old.

That sounds like she needed a good bath. Maybe now that the worst if off, it could work for next time. How long have you had her?
Happy Belated Birthday to you and your hubby, btw!

I think you are making great progress for only having had her 6 days! My Kodee took much longer to warm up to us at all..lol
You are on the right track for sure:)
What is her name? They sure can steal your heart, can't they?

Well me made efforts to visit her before bringing her home, I thought it might make the process easier. I think I may have been right, she has done much better here at home than she ever did in those visits. The breeder had named her Lemon so we felt it best to stick with what she was responding to. Seems to fit her anyways. I have worried some that she isn't sleeping so on nights that were up late I purchased a separate cage to go upstairs. She's gonna be rotten for sure. My husband is already dicing fresh fruit for breakfast along with a small dish of organic unsweetened apple juice. We were told this would be ok, she seems to like grapes in the morning and will do just about anything for a sunflower seed. I've done my best to make sure all foods that are not her bird pellets and seeds are organic, unsalted, unsweetened etc.

So usually when the sun goes down so does Lemon or that's how it's been this 1st week with us, however not tonight it's like a two year old with a red bull, she is exploring and playing and being extremely vocal. Banging toys and coming in and out of her cage, is this normal???

Very normal! My Ringneck is a riot. He gets the zoomies... similar to what dogs get when they come out of a bath. I open his cage, or just randomly when he's out, all of a sudden he has to do laps around the room from spot to spot, randomly attacking toys and then calming down after a few minutes.

Lemon is beautiful by the way - do you have any pictures of her in better/natural lighting? She almost looks like a yellow headed or green pallid mutation to me in those pictures rather than a straight lutino. Is she DNA sexed as female?
