first post and urgent help needed please

I have had parrots for many years and a major accident happened yesterday
My old female moustache parrot (my favorite old girl 22 years old) was attacked by my umbrella too who managed to unlock his cage,
he mamaged to rip the moustaches lower beak from the top of where it connects to the skull and is only still ttached at the bottom of the mandidble
she seems as well as can be expected and I didn manage to get some fluids and a bit of hand hfeeding formula into her
all the vets I contacted today even the university said due to her size and age, to have her euthanized

I am not a stranger to the use of dental acrylic and dental glue
any ideas if I could temporarily re attach the beak so I can hand feed etc till I see if the beack will make any attemptto grow back, deformed or not
I just cant fathom euthanizinbg and not giving her a chance she has been thru so many scrapes in her life, she has the will of a fighter and and I have not given up trying to find a vet to help her

by the way I am in London Ontario Canada

any and all help appreciated
she is more fristrated that she can not
eat and drink than anything

Please don't give up on your Delores just yet. Birds are incredibly adaptable. I can't believe you were told you should put her down.

I've just signed on here....Please please take your bird to the emergency pet clinic in Guelph!!
I took my Num Num just recently to Links Road Animal Clinic and repaired his beak.
(I have goosebumps right now, I know exactly what your going thru!!)

I believe the clinic in Guelph is open 24 hours( I may be wrong though) and is EXCELLENT!!

I wish you luck, please don't put your bird down, until it has been assessed. it is repairable, as long as there is not too much damage....hang in there!...I know it seems disastrous right now, but if he has the proper care, he will hopefully come out of this ok

Same here <3 As everyone else has said, please don't put him down just yet. Vets can be silly sometimes. I was advised to get my Kakariki put down when she broke her leg... -_- went to a different vet and they did a teeny wrap up on her leg, told me to restrict her movement so had her in a tiny cage on top of nice soft hay bedding, and her leg healed within a month. It pays off to get your bird properly assessed before making the one big decision.

Same here: exhaust all possibilities before you consider putting her down. Birds can live without a beak. It's not the quality of life one would want for them but they seem to adapt well to handicaps. Vets would tell you to put down an animal when they perceive the problem would require constant attention but, in most cases, it's a matter of how determined the owner is to make it work. I have a tiel I took in a year ago in another week or two and, when I took him to the vet, he said to put him down, that he would not last two months because of his severe liver and kidney malfunction (he was also skin and bones because his mandible is split in half and was not able to eat enough) but he is not only still alive (eating, drinking, pooping just fine), he has gained weight and his polyuria is much better.
