2 sun conures
its going to be 45 degrees in maine today! that means 65 or so on our porch...and our two sun conures can't wait to go outside....we roll their cage out a slider...they love the real sun and love listening to all the animals outside...our porch is covered and faces south so they can move back in the cage to get out of the sun when they want to...there are also lots of chickadees flying in and out of our bird feeders...no humming birds yet...chickens,turkeys,alpacas down below to chat with...funny..when the conures are outside their very quite...only yell when a car is coming up the driveway....or for something big..they recognize our vehicle sound from about 500 yards away! a fun day for sure!

Wonderful!! I have to share a story. We hang Sheldons smaller cage outside the front door under the eaves. he gets some morning sun for a few hours. We spent the later part of the morning running the self-clean on the oven. with the weather being so nice in the fall we left Sheldon in his cage hanging on the front porch. I sit just inside the kitchen window where I can see him and I work on the computer. Not but 2 seconds later Sheldon is having a "melt down". I look up and see this hawk fly under the eaves and dang near side swipe his cage! Poor Sheldon was glued to the opposite side trying to get out! good thing he couldn't because he would have been a tasty snack. I collected him up in a hurry and brought him in, took him out and into the living room. Poor little guy! his heart was racing. I'm surprised he didnt go into an instant molt.

He really likes to be outside with the other "small" birds. One year he had a couple humming birds come to visit. It was sooo much fun to watch his reaction when the birds are smaller than he is.

one horse....thats a neat story.....the hawks have a hay day before the spring leaves come out....easy pickins...time to keep all pigeons in their cages...even our midget white turkeys freak out when a hawk or even a crow casts its shadow ...everything in the yard scrambles...except the alpacas..not much freaks them out....we put the conure cage right up against a clear bird stick on window feeder...the chickadees are already eating right next to the conures...funny how the conures stay so quiet ...just watching the chickadees...they love it....

We must have photos of the first day out!

Eeek! Poor Sheldon, glad his mom was right there to rescue him.
