Since Gus won't eat veggies, I'm trying to trick him with birdie bread. So far, I think he successfully tricked me into hanging out in the kitchen all afternoon. He ate just a small piece. If he doesn't eat more tomorrow, maybe I can put some kind of fruit juice on them?

3 bananas
1 cup frozen mixed veggies
2 eggs
1/2 cup chopped almond flour, oatmeal flakes, cooked lentils, cooked brown rice, uncooked cornmeal, millet, pecans, pepitos, 2 tablespoons coconut oil and a cup of coarsely crushed Zupreem pellets. Baked at 350 for about 20 minutes per cookie sheet. Wish me luck...

Try coconut oil after the fact rather than as an ingredient. Drizzling that on anything is a common trick amongst many parrot owners. It works the majority of he time!

I swear: I'd put some butter on one of those and try it. Oh, yes, I would.

My birdie bread recipe is quite different, but MrC can usually be caught munching on it when I take it out of the oven. I have to shoo him away.

Okay I never thought I would say this but yeah I would try it. Sounds like zucchini bread on steroids. Might need some hot sauce.

They look scrumptious, I would try one. My flock will love this recipe, I doubt they'll offer me a single taste. Greedy little buggers.

I did taste them...slightly sweet from the banana but a but dry. They might be good with coconut oil. I was hoping to gradually introduce veggie flavors to him, but I read parrots don't smell/taste things that well. He mostly seems to like things that are crunchy and salty or sweet.

For what it's worth, my birds favor things made with red palm oil, and it's got some good things in it for parrots that other oils don't have (the alpha carotenes), and the extra fat isn't bad for macaws. They don't need a high fat diet, but they do need more fats than smaller parrots.
