I'm hoping someone will make this a sticky as I feel it's important for any newbies or oldies for that matter to know what is needed in a first aid kit

Personally I have not a clue so if people can post the things that are in theirs it would be great

Cheers Jesse

I bought a small plastic storage box a few weeks ago. I have been making it into not only a first aid kit, but also an evacuation kit. No matter where you live on this earth, the time could arise when you need to evacuate the house with the frame of mind that it may not be there when you return (Fire, Flood, Hurricane etc etc.), thus your fids may need to come with you. I am including not only the above mentioned medical supplies, but also non perishable foods, water bottles, towels, 1-2 toys and a full detailed document on each of my fids (in case something happens to me :(). I haven't got very far yet, i only have carriers, flour, dry food, nail clippers, towels, cotton swabs and water lol. So if the natural disasters and birdie boo-boo's could hold off for another couple of weeks, that would be great ;)

One emergency evacuation is that of a fire. We have literally seconds to get our birds out. As you know the smoke will kill them faster than us. Know and be prepared where you will go and what you will put your bird in to escape the smoke. If it is in the middle of the night you will not be able to see much so have a flashlight nearby. Those of us who live in multiple dwelling buildings should be expecially cautious about this hazard.

So many things to put into a kit: forceps, tweezers, needle and thread, rubber gloves, alcohol wipes, small bottle of sterile water, betadine, nail clippers, nail file, small scalpel or exacto knife, disposable syringes, small penlight, magnifiying glass, clean towels wraped in plastic, anticeptic ointment for skin (neosporin), for eyes (terramyicin), popcicle sticks and tongue depressors for splints, ...........theres much more but these are a few that come to mind that haven't been mentioned yet ;)

Thanks all for your lists
there are so many things I never thought of and shall be assembling asap
