 There are tons of firemen and firetrucks coming into my condo right now because my neighbor had a gasleak.
They didn't tell us to evacuate so I figure we're safe, but anyone know if I should be concerned about my Fids?

99 percent sure he's fine, but I'm a bit embarrassed because when I walked out of my apartment to see what was up, I told my neighbors (that I don't really know) that I was worried about whether or not my bird would be safe because they have sensitive respiratory systems. That, paired with the fact that I was wearing a 10 sizes too big grandma style nightgown probably made me seem nuts lol

Hope all is well happycat! That happened to us once, and I ended up sitting on the path outside our house at 2AM in my pyjamas with 2 birdcages hoping the wind wouldn’t change direction again. I was freaking out as usual when it’s got anything to do with my birds but we got thru it!

ask the officials? I would..explain the canary in the coal mine backstory...can't hurt?

Can’t ask the officials cause they’ve been gone for ages.
I’ve been monitoring them just in case. At this point if something was wrong I’d know right? Jojo made a few breathy noises when he was supposed to be asleep and of course my mind jumped to ā€œis something wrong?ā€ i think he just woke up and was surprised but it’s probably gonna keep me up for a little while.
Worst thing about being a bird owner is fume worry I swear. Maybe it’s just me haha

Hey, ay least you are aware!

(I've just spend half an hour going over the manual from my new central heating -at five in the morning!- because it made scary noises and the first thing that sprang to mind was .... my birds welfare)

Since everyone is gone you can asume it is allright now. ;)
