So my sister got her two parakeets in december and she chose this cage,Triple Roof Parakeet Cage by Prevue - Cages Re-Direct - Featured Products - PetSmart. Not only is that cage way too small but the only perches she had were one sand pech and the wooden dowels the cage came with. Well after constant nagging and pleading from me I finally got her to use my extra cage,Petco Designer Green Dome Playtop Parrot Cage at PETCO. Now I know that one isnt big enough either but she wont get them a bigger cage. I also got her a grapevine perch, rope perch, a better sand perch, orange tree branch, and a bunch of toys from mysafebirdstore.com!
Just thought I would share the good news.:D

What an awesome brother you are ! Your sister (and her parakeets) are lucky to have you : )

You are a good man, cdog! I'm sure that your sister's parakeets are much happier thanks to you.

I'm curious why your sister is so... misguided about what her parakeets need, when you are obviously extremely knowledgeable. You'd think she'd have gone to you and asked for your advice or if you knew what her birds needed, before and after getting them.

My sister is stuck in her ways and doesnt like to be told what to do. She thinks "parakeet" cages are perfect for parakeets, her reasoning is, why would they make those cages if they werent meant for parakeets. She also doesnt understand that she cant paint her nails with her birds in the room, I have caught her multiple times doing it. I'm younger than her so she thinks she knows more than me and she wont listen to me. I finally got her to move her birds in the living room and one of her parakeets is extremely happy with the move, she sings all day long now wheras she only sang a couple of times a day in my sisters room. My sister hardly ever feeds/waters her birds so I have to do it for her, she also never cleans her cage so I do that too. She also never lets me open their cage so they can get exercise so I have to do it when she is at school.
My sister is learning more and she allows me to do more for her birds but she definitley has a lot to learn.
