After a 2 weeks of trying to get Red to eat his pellets he started eating them today. I read somewhere I think it was the Quaker room to soak them in water. I tried that and it made them mushy and he started eating them. Now if I could only get him to eat veggies. He will eat some fruit very picky he eats grapes, raisins, apple and he picked at watermelon.

Congratulations on getting him eating them. That is a great first step to a healthy diet. It took me years (with the help a pellet eating adopted blue crown buddy) to get my life long seed eater Tootsie converted over. I think it is helping to add years and quality to her life. Keep on with the fruits and veggies. Eat them in front of him and act like they are the best thing ever. And share as soon as he shows a bit of interest. For fruits/veggies that have a mostly tasteless skin, make sure you cut them open so that he can taste the more flavorful insides. Sprinkle with some juices too. I noticed with Tootsie that after she started eating a small selection of veggies that she expanded her "good to eat" list over the years. She is still picky but I'm happy with what she will eat even if it is limited.

That's excellent progress! Persistence with the veggies will pay off, if Red is already curious enough to pick at the fresh food, in time he will learn to really like it. Sometimes shredding or dicing fresh fruits and vegetables will make a difference.
