I had Willow out again today, it's been a while since she was last out.
I was preparing the dishes to feed my birds and she decided to start taste testing

then she flew around the house a bit(my heart drops when she does that)
and thought my head was a good enough place to land, ha ha.:p

we are slowly getting there with her;)

She is so pretty! The taste testing pic is so funny.

What a beautiful plumpy parrot! I love how she looks and so at home on top of your head. What parrot is not a foodie. Love how she is helping herself to the bounty before her. LOL.

Is it getting easier for her in your home? Is she adjusting to your family and becoming friendlier? She sure looks like she is enjoying herself. You take care care of your flock so well and it shows in your pictures of whom ever you post about.

thanks, it's difficult getting her out, as we have to put away 3 dogs and 4 cats,(it's the cats that take the most time, we can't find them half the time, lol) ....we we are trying to make the effort. I'd love to have her out all the time!

gosh I laughed when you said 'plumpy'. thanks for the kind words!....I am assuming she is a 'tad' overweight, my cousin fed her great pellets, but not too much good food. We did weigh her when she came here, but we have not weighed her since.
As you can see she INHALES the good stuff here daily. her weight will come down with more exercise. I think she eats plenty due to her being in the cage so much and not much else to do but play with toys and eat....that sounds really boring for a life of a bird, doesn't it?....kind of sad really:eek:

I don't think she looked overweight..just healthy and plumpy..I love Plumpy parrots. It is my term of endearment for healthy parrots not meant as to say they are overweight. Valentino as a just weaned baby was pretty lean. I keep having trouble remembering how lean baby parrots are and that is healthy and okay for them. It takes time to grow into their adult bodies and "fill out" I still can feel Valentino's keel pretty well. When he flies to me and lands hard on my hand sometimes the keel hurts my hand. I sometimes wonder what happened to the "landing on you like you were touched by an Angel" the RFM's are so well known for. Now he flies at me so fast he smacks into me. On my shoulder his beak smacks my head. LOL

You are doing a very good job with Willow. I know it can be a pain to set up for her to be out but I am sure it is worth it for both of you. I have to Kennel Mercedes our Scottish Terrier when working with Valentino but our Ragdoll Julianna keeps out of Valentino's way.

I am sure in time Willow will flourish even more in your home with your care.

ahh, now I understand Rebecca, I thought you were referring to Willow as overweight, and 'plumpy' was a nice way of putting it.... my mistake:eek:

Valentino smacks into you? gosh that's funny, I think I'd be terrified if I had a big bird like him flying at me!....but then again you are use to having the larger birds. Willow is the largest bird I own, and that is big enough for me.;)
clearly you are in a league of your own when you own a big bird(s)

She's adorable! Trixie also likes being on top of my head whenever I'm preparing her food in the kitchen, lol. Willow is beautiful.

thanks Phoebe, I guess the view is better from up there while we prepare their food, lol.

Would love to see the photos but it appears as if you've removed them. :(

It's great at least that she's settling in!
